Canadian Broadcasting Corporation said on February 5th 2009 that a 60-year-old Ranjit Hayer finally gave birth to twins through all kinds of hardships with the help of in-vitro fertilization. Two twin boys seven weeks premature, on the morning of Feb 3rd they were delivered by caesarean section at a hospital in Calgary in Western Canada. And now they are receiving the special care. Hayer as one of the highest lying-in woman is also in the special care unit. For decades Hayer has aborted 3 times, and then she paid an Indian doctor for in-vitro fertilization, but the doctor run away with money unexpectedly. Later, a Canadian obstetrics and gynecology doctor found her uterine is abnormal, but she still can not pregnant after surgery. Then the couple saved money for a few years, ready to accept in-vitro fertilization in Canada, but was refused because of age problem. The couple returned to India and use of donor egg in-vitro fertilization, finally succeeded. Obstetricians Colin Burch thinks aging parents may not be able to see the children grown up for their limited energy. "It's all we can do about it, but the question is: are we doing this just because we have capabilities? ... I can not imagine myself looking at two 5-year-old sons run around when I am 65." |
