Prep cross country: CSN's Fluehr twins qualify for Foot Locker National Finals

Kathryn and Erika Fluehr have qualified for the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships National Finals.

Kathryn Fluehr, who won the Class 1A state title a week ago, finished second in the South Regional at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday. Fluehr finished in 17:09, behind Chelsey Sveinsson of Addison, Texas, who won in 16:53. Erika Fluehr was eighth in 17:20. It was Sveinsson's second straight regional title.

The top 10 boys and girls advanced to the national finals, which are Dec. 12 at Morley Field in Balboa Park in San Diego.

In the boys' race, Estero's Erick Montoya was the top area finisher, placing 51st in 15:42. Immokalee's Argeo Cruz was 85th in 15:59. Estero's Aaron Rojas (125th, 16:20), Jesse Littlefield (189th, 17:00), Jose Farnot (197th, 17:10) and Julian Chavez (204th, 17:14) and Immokalee's Armando Yzaguirre (219th, 18:05) also competed.
