Mom convicted of stabbing twins' father

FRENCH VALLEY - A Lake Elsinore woman was convicted this afternoon of second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of the father of her infant twins.

Amalia Bryant, 25, told jurors at the trial that she stabbed 20-year-old Robert Golden in the couple's apartment on Thanksgiving 2005. She said it happened during a struggle and Golden had been abusive over the course of a rocky relationship. Bryant was charged with murder.

Jurors at the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley convicted Bryant of the lesser charge, for which she faces 16 years to life in prison.

She is set to be sentenced in January.
