Twins celebrate 94th birthday with food and fun

Twins Pauline Teufert and Erna Spotti celebrated their 94th birthdays Monday at the Olive Garden Italian Restaurant in Fairview Heights.

"We come here quite often. It's her favorite place," Erna said, pointing to her sister.

Afterward, the sisters said, they probably were going to the mall.

 Both were born in Staunton and Erna moved back there a few years ago after living in St. Louis. Pauline lived in East St. Louis and now lives in Fairview Heights in the home she and her late husband built in 1949.

"It cost $8,000 to build the house," Pauline said. "We paid $350 for the lot. It's almost an acre."

Both of the sisters are active. Both still drive and both still volunteer in different ways.
