NEW ORLEANS -- While awaiting paperwork from the NFL draft advisory board, junior twin OLs Mike and Maurkice Pouncey sound pretty sure they will enter the NFL draft a year early if projected in the top two rounds. Maurkice, the higher-rated twin, said he needs to be guaranteed a late-first or early-second-round pick to leave. Mike, a guard, said his brother deserves the higher ranking after winning the Rimington Trophy as the nation's best center. "He's been playing a lot longer than me," said Mike, who will slide to center if he stays another season. Senior WR Riley Cooper also is contemplating the NFL despite signing a $250,000 contract with the Texas Rangers in the offseason. Cooper plans to participate in the Senior Bowl and NFL combine. "My mindset's of a football player," said Cooper, who led the Gators with 780 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. "I kind of struggle with failure and baseball...striking out and getting pissed."(From:orlandosentinel) (Edit:Ruby) |
