Family Welcomes Twins Three Times

Dylan and the only daughter, Summer were born in June and are in excellent health, along with the other four children.

For many couples, a set of twins would be quite a blessing. For a North Miami Beach family, just one set wasn't quite enough. Instead, the Hinrichsen family has three sets of twins and all of them are doing great.

Kathleen Hinrichsen and her husband Nick are the proud, or perhaps more appropriately tired, parents of the six children. While it wasn't planned, it wasn't necessarily an accident either. A year into their marriage, the couple had trouble conceiving on their own.

So they tried in vitro fertilization. The doctor implanted two embryos and Austin and Tyler were born.

"I think we were really terrified at first (with the first set) you know, how do we take care of twins?" Nick Hinrichsen asked. "I can't imagine doing just one." "Cause everyone talks negatively, like oh, just wait and so we were like okay," Kathleen added.

They adjusted to the twins so well that soon Kathleen was talking babies again. "I guess we wanted to try for a girl," Nick said. "Yep, so we went back to the IVF doctor and again we ended up with twins," Katlheen said.

But, just like the first set, two more boys were the result of the fertility treatments. But Kathleen desperately wanted a daughter. She had only one thing she had to do, convince Nick.

"I begged and begged until finally he was like just lets go, okay," Kathleen said. "At that time, he was like 'we'll definitely only have one, there's no way that God is going to give us another set of twins.'"

They were wrong, again. Dylan and the only daughter, Summer were born in June and are in excellent health, along with the other four children. But ask Kathleen and Nick if they plan on adding any more children to the family and you'll get a quick, one word response, "NO!"

There are no stats on the odds of having three sets of twins with the help of fertility drugs. However, without fertility treatment, you're more likely to be struck by lightning than to be struck by the plethora of children like the Hinrichsen's have.
