VANCOUVER (CBC) - Henrik Sedin is having a season to remember, and it looks like he is starting to get his twin brother, Daniel, in on the action. After the pair had three points each during a comeback win in Edmonton on Wednesday, the Sedin twins take their act back home as the Vancouver Canucks host the Dallas Stars on Thursday. Henrik had assists on all three Canuck goals in Edmonton, while brother Daniel had a goal and two helpers. The brothers linked up to score the overtime winner, as Henrik slid a pass over to Daniel in the slot for the game-winner on the power play. "It was great to be able to come back on the road," Daniel Sedin said afterward. "We knew it was going to be a tough game and probably come down to the wire. We were lucky that they took a couple of penalties late in the game that we were able to score on." All three goals were scored on the power play, which is ranked fourth in the NHL. The Canucks are 6-for-18 on the man advantage in their last six games. "Obviously our power play was real good and was able to win us the game," said coach Alain Vigneault, as the Canucks go up against the 27th-ranked Dallas penalty kill Thursday. Goalie Roberto Luongo made 31 saves during the win against the Oilers, as he started his 20th straight game. Vancouver's captain will probably be back in goal on Thursday, and if he does he'll be going for his sixth straight victory against Dallas. Henrik Sedin has six points in his last two games and leads the NHL scoring race with 70 (21 goals, 49 assists). He's tallied five assists in three games against the Stars this season. Daniel has 13 goals and 29 assists for 42 points this campaign. The red-hot Alex Burrows scored yet again on Wednesday, making it 12 goals in his last nine games for the Canucks. After giving Edmonton its ninth straight loss, the Canucks could prolong another losing streak against the Stars, who are mired in franchise-record nine game slide away from home. Dallas has also lost its last two games at Vancouver's GM Place, while the Canucks are starting a four-game homestand and have won nine of its last 13 at home. The Stars are starting a three-game road trip and looking for their third straight win after beating Minnesota Monday night in Dallas. Vancouver is also looking for its third straight win, as the Canucks have bounced back well after a three-game losing streak. This is the fourth and final meeting between the two teams this season the Canucks have won two of three against the Stars. A win would bring sixth-place Vancouver even on points with Northwest Division leader Colorado, which is idle Thursday. The Stars are tied for 10th place, seven points behind the Canucks. Dallas will have to play without their top shutdown forward Jere Lehtinen, who is out with an upper-body injury suffered during Saturday's game against Detroit. The Stars have called up Warren Peters to take Lehtinen's spot in the lineup. Dallas will probably look to Alex Auld in net. He has started the last two games in place of Marty Turco, who's let in 18 goals in his last five games. "My goal from the start is when I'm playing to give the team as good a chance as possible to win," Auld said. Captain Brenden Morrow (upper body) is day-to-day, while Mike Ribeiro (throat) is out four to six weeks. Nicklas Grossman (lower body) is on the injured reserve list for the Stars. Vancouver is getting healthier, as Aaron Rome and Steve Bernier returned to the lineup. Alexandre Bolduc (shoulder) and defenceman Kevin Bieksa (ankle) remain out of action, while Ryan Johnson (foot) and Willie Mitchell (upper body) are questionable. (Edit:Ruby) |
