However, Cai didn't give up any hopes for save her sons. She has brought the children to almost half China in places like Hunan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Beijing and so on in the past five years, looking for cure for the sons. Cai Liping gave birth to a pair of twin boys named Sensen and Binbin in May 1998. However, at the age of four, the boys both got confirmed with progressive muscular dystrophy, a malignant disease worse than cancer. There is only one out of 100,000,000 for twins to suffer together. The patient usually get sick at childhood, and paralysed around the age ten, and finally die of malnutrition, respiratory disease, or heart failure, and there are no exceptions. There is no treatment in the world. Many doctors in big hospital predict that they couldn't live through the age 18.
Since her husband worked outside to earn for the living and treating, Cai Liping had to look for treatment for the children herself. In the process, the disease worsen daily for the children. The children couldn't even walk and got paralysed in bed at the age of six.
With her brave persistence, Cai Liping moved director Yang Xiaofeng, director in cell centre in 463 hospital of Shenyang PLS, who finally agreed to treat the brothers with the newest stem cell transplantation for free. The kids had three operations done from August 5, 2007 to July 2008, and stood up amazingly. The unprecedented incurable fatal disease recede in front of the twin brothers. It was maternal love what created the miracle. Photo from Splendid forum |
