There is such a pair of twin brothers called Zhuangzhuang and Zhizhi in Decheng district of Dezhou city. They were diagnosed as progressive muscle malnutrition, commonly known as "noodles disease" by several hospitals in May 2006. The unfortunate fate to brought the common family mountainous pressure.
Xing Lixin, Zhuangzhuang and Zhizhi's father said that the children's disease worsens rapidly this year, usually when the children are 13 or 17 years old. The brothers wre born on 21 July 1997, and it's a vital time for their growth this year.
To Xing Lixin's surprise, there have been two successful cases of such disease in a hospital in Shenyang. The treatment includes several stages, the stem cell transplantation surgery costing probably 120,000 Yuan and the chemotherapy costing 500,000 Yuan half a year later. That is almost 700,000 Yuan in total.
"As an average family, we have spent about 170,000 Yuan on treating the children for so many years, and we can't afford it any more. " Xing Lixin said, "My first thing is to gather this 700,000 Yuan for curing my children immediately since I don't have a second chance once they grow older than 14 year old. I hope the society can help my children. We only have half a year, and I want to raise the money for the surgery in shenyang as soon as possible."
At present, the brothers Zhuangzhuang and Zhizhi can't even stand up, and they have less than a year to be saved.
The father Xing Lixin said, "A child sprained his ankle when going upstairs at grade six. He has recovered much slower than common children because of his poor immunity and the disease. His feet deteriorates and we can do nothing but massaging for him. He could barely stand up now, and his ankle begins to deform. "
From then on, the brothers became less willing to communicate with others. "They just feel self-abased."
Father Xing Lixin encourages the children, "Desipite your disease, there are so many kind-hearted people helping you. The society hasn't abandoned you, and you should feel happy."
The children shook his head and said "You are not right." "He said as if he knew something. But we tried to avoid talking about the disease."
At school, the brothers can only sit there for a whole day, watching other children playing outside. It's much better in summer, but when the parents meet them after school in winter, they already got urine on pants.
"I pick them from school most of the time. Seeing me, they may say they were not comfortable and they got urine on pants." "I asked why didn't call me?" "They answered I was not there." Hearing their answer, Xing Lixin felt heartbroken. He said that it is very cold in winter and the two children waited for him to pick up. Back at home, he let the Children study, and he couldn't help crying in another room.
Now, the two children has been unable to go to school and stay at home. Every weekend, some college students and social volunteers come to communicate with the children and tutor for their study. "They feel much happier and slowly begin to talk. They used to be unwilling to communicate in the past. With these volunteers, they will become open-minded and get to know more about the world."
Xing Lixin said that the first time Zhuangzhuang and Zhizhi went to hospital, "They barely had any money at home, and they couldn't even make both ends meet." Knowing about it, the factory works for offered to donate part, colleagues donated some, and he borrowed some from the factory to pay for the treatment.
Many people directly send donations to the family, and some send to the news agency, requiring to be used for the brothers' treatment. Some people even did it annonymously.
On May 29th, Xing Lixin said that he got hope from getting loan with their house as a mortgage. He said that it is his conscience as a father to cure the children. |
