Poverty Stricken Twins Got Help in Tianjin University

Recently, Twin brothers studying at Automatics College in Tianjin University from Guyuan city in Ningxia got 2500 Yuan each as Beiyang Encouraging Scholarship and a whole set of articles for daily use each from Li Yidan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee at school. It is learned that there are 360 poverty stricken students who entered shool with such help among the new recruits in 2010.

Beiyang Encouraging Scholarship launched in May 2007 is a grant-in-aid established specially for poverty stricken students. So far, there has been more than 9.47 million Yuan collected from alumnae, teachers, and various social circles, and 810 students granted with more than 2.53 million Yuan. There were 661 applications from the new recruits this year, and the total subsidize amounts almost 60,000 Yuan.

According to Qu Haifu, deputy minister of the school Students' Department, Tianjin University brings forward the help to the registration. While sending the recruitment notification, there are also applications for Beiyang Encouraging Scholarship, investigation form for poverty stricken family economy status, and specifications for tuition loans sent together, so as to know about the family economic status of poverty stricken students and provide them with relevant travelling expenses. During the summer vacation, instructors from each department had got contact with new recruits from poverty stricken families and earthquake stricken areas, introducing various aids at school, assuring the families, and making sure that the students would register on time.
