Twin Sisters Won 50 + Music Awards in 17 Years

Abstract: In the Tandun film concert for the 100-day after Shanghai Expo opening ceremony in August 8 this year, a 24-year-old girl named Wang Xiaobei from Dawangzhuan Street in Hedong District in Tianjin worked as the second senior violinist. Immediately after the performance, she got the congratulating text message from her twin sister Wang Xiaolei from hometown. One month later, Wang Xiaolei who teaches music in the children’s palace in Jinnan District was awarded as teacher of excellence. Reporters interviewed these twin violinists recently.

Twin sisters started learning piano at five years old.

Sisters Wang Xiaobei and Wang Xiaolei live in No. 13 courtyard, No. 12 Jing Road in Tianjin. Speaking of the music experience, the sisters both talked about their mother. Majored in Chemistry, their mother Lv Jing likes music very much. She tried music for antenatal training in pregnancy, and bring the daughters to the neighboring music school for studying later.

Incidentally, Ms. Lv attended a lecture named “Children’s wisdom comes from the finger”, which intended to train children’s brain by playing instruments. Thinking of the neighboring violin, she decided to have her children learn violin. Each class cost dozens of Yuan, which was a handsome expense for the middle-class family. Each weekend, Ms. Lv rode a tricycle, carrying the 5-year-old Wang Xiaobei to learn piano from the music tutor in Hepin District. However, this arrangement was interrupted. Each time after Xiaobei studied, the twins fought for the manual. Ms. Lv finally decided to have both daughters learn piano. From then on, the twin sisters both appeared on the tricycle on the way to music.

Numerous awards

The twin sisters attended the first Tianjin violin competition for children at the age of 7 in 1993, and won the first and the second prizes respectively. Then, they both entered Tianjin Experimental Primary School with their aptitude, and both became violinists in school orchestra. With the guidance of professional teachers, the sisters found a much broader stage. In the third national children violinist competition in 1995, the older sister Wang Xiaobei won third prize, and the younger sister Wang Xiaolei prize of merits. In Sept. 1999, the sisters both entered the Attached Middle School of Tianjin Music College.

In 2005, the sisters entered Central Music College and Tianjin Music College, completing their mother’s willing. In Sept. 2009, the younger sister Wang Xiaolei had her dream come true and became a music teacher in the Children’s palace in Jinnan District in the city. She just got graded as teacher of excellence recently. The older sister Wang Xiaolei has long cherished a dream of becoming a concert performer, and she has performed with famous people form home and abroad like Tan Dun, Ozawa Seiji, Barenboim, Herman, and so on. She has performed abroad for many times too.

Since the first time they went on stage, the sisters have won more than fifty prizes at district level, city level, and national level in the 17 years.
