Beijing Morning News hotline 96101 news (Li Jie reports): recently, Citizen Mr. Li passed by Exit C of Pingguoyuan Stop of Underground No. 1, and saw two boys sitting behind a newspaper stand and doing homework in the weak street lamp. “What obedient kids. Winter is coming, and it must be very cold to do homework along the street. Some kids with good condition don’t value it though.”

At 6 p.m. yesterday, reporters went to Exit C of Pingguoyuan Stop of Underground No. 1, and it was completely dark. Some unlicensed drivers were busy with business around. Near the newspaper stand on the road, two boys were devoted doing homework, not affected by the noisy environment at all. Their mother Ms. Li ran the newspaper business. Some passing-by passengers stopped for the kids occasionally, buying a newspaper or two.

“It’s good to do homework at mom’s stand.” Says the older brother Liu Yang. He says that his younger brother Liu Wei and he are 7 years old, and study at grade 2 in Shijingshan Pioneering Primary School. They don’t study in the same class, but they take bus home together, not bothering parents to pick them up. Their mother tells reporters that they came from hometown Shandong five years ago, and live on newspaper selling. Having no one caring for the kids, they had to follow her and do homework at the newspaper stand.
