Silent teamwork Like all twins, the two girls found that they were easily affected by each other. Wen cites one example, saying, in the beginning, Ting was often criticized by Coach Luo because she could not grasp the main skills quickly. However, she let out her frustration by crying, making her sister feel sad also. "During training in Sichuan, we didn't see each other often. When one of us got sick, the other was bound to feel uncomfortable at the same time." Ting continued, "For instance, when my sister injured her knee in 2000, I also felt an ache in my knee." The two girls made good use of this silent teamwork and it played an important role in their development. In a short period of time, the girls were promoted to the provincial team when they were less than ten years old. Two years later, they competed with more experienced dancers in adult competitions and became famous. They were nominated to compete at the 2006 Doha Asian Games and after several rounds of fierce competition, they won the gold medal, defeating stronger rivals and winning the praise of the judges. Differences exist For example,at a press conference after they won the gold medal in the pairs event at the Doha Games, an interpreter mixed them up and introduced them incorrectly even though she had carefully observed them. But Wen was tolerant and said it was kind of funny. They are open and optimistic, but Wen still thinks that they are different in some ways. She said, "My younger sister is obstinate and I am easy-going." |
