In Cross, we are very fortunate in that we have a lot of good, young players coming through.

Some players like Oisin [McConville], who is a scoring machine, are indispensable.

But Tony and I are a different type of player and there are a number of players currently vying for our positions.

I think it's important that they get the opportunity to be put in those positions.

We need the young fellas to stand up. There is no point in them depending on us, that would not be a positive thing for the club.

It's important that they take on that expectation and responsibility."

Despite his plan to retire from playing the game, and to re-locate to Keady, McEntee insisted that he intends to remain involved with football and Crossmaglen.

He said: "I'd like to be involved in some way. Football has been our lives and it will continue to be our lives. I got great satisfaction from going up and watching the minors winning the All-Ireland.

I also attended the function in Dublin that night and I was at the homecoming yesterday. I was like a big child. I was just so delighted to see them win because it gives us great hope for the future of Armagh."
