Double the pleasure, triple the fun

We tried for quite a few years," 34-year-old Gregory said.

Preparing for multiple babies presents not only the hospital staff with additional considerations, but the family as well.

"The hardest part was trying to decide what you really need two of," Gregory said.

Although she had friends, both long-distance, one in Alaska, and local, fellow teachers, who had twins as well that offered advice, the best tip came down to purchasing two boppies. A boppie is a c-shaped pillow that allows the babies to sit, recline and drink their bottles. Oh, and a definite close second for words of wisdom was to get the babies on the same eating and sleeping schedules.

When asked if Arnold attempted to breast feed her triplets her reply was, "Oh no! That would almost be impossible."

Arnold is conquering the "co-bedding" issue one month at a time. According to Weber, "co-bedding" is another serious consideration parents of multiples need to ponder.

"There are pros and cons to have the babies sleep together in the same bed," Weber said.

She added that the hospital protocol is to co-bed the babies safely with heart rate monitors to look at what is going on.

"We have open conversations with the parents about this issue, but we do not recommend what to do at home," Weber added.

Arnold said her three boys, Bryan Scott, Dereck David, and Bradd Becker are all sleeping in a play pack currently, but she plans to separate them into two cribs at seven months. When they reach the year mark, she hopes to have them in three separate cribs.

Gregory on the other hand, has decided to separate her twins during slumber because they are "quite feisty".

"Both are very active, and when they are on the play-mat with each other, their arms are flaying, and they scream at each other."
