"The bottom line is they work together. They are both very fast and aggressive," Helix High basketball teammate Lexi Audley said of Kristina Scott (left) and her twin sister Kimberly.

LA MESA -- Opponents don't seem to find Kimberly and Kristina Scott imposing, but the twins are making an impact for the Helix High basketball team.

"They look so much alike yet they are so different," Highlanders coach Trina Merideth said. "They also know their roles on the court."

The Scott sisters, 5-foot-2 juniors, are competitive. But their family rivalry is friendly, including their love for cooking.

"I think I'm a better cook," said Kimberly, the Highlanders' point guard who carries a 3.4 grade-point average. "I cook soul food, greens, corn bread. ``` The difference is I don't burn the chicken like my sister does."

Kristina, who has a 3.14 GPA and also excels in track, discounts the difference in cooking skills.

"I'm pretty good at cleaning the whole house. Matter of fact, I think I'm a way better housekeeper than she is," Kristina said.

When it comes to basketball, Kimberly leads the Highlanders with a 13.8-point scoring average. Her sister averages about half that.

That's one area that doesn't create a "Ha-ha, I'm better than you" situation.

"We both want to win and we work together to make that happen," Kimberly said. "The numbers don't really mean anything if you don't win."

Helix, which began the week with a 6-6 record, opens Grossmont Hills League play at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at home against Grossmont.
