Twins' Stories: Two Musicians from One Cell

The older brother came from competition

The older twin brother is named Ouyang Nai, and the younger Ouyang Ding. They were born on the fifth day of the fourth lunar month in 1950.

It is said that their names come from the phrase "Ding Nai reconcile". Ding and Nai are both cooking utensils and their father wished the brothers to work together and to develop in the same industry. Years later, his wish came true. Different from the original meaning of politic area, the brothers became musicians and worked in reconciliation for decades.

"We have discordant voices too, but that happened 60 years ago." Ouyang Ding said with a smile. His brother and he competed in their mother's belly to come out first to be the older brother. His brother scrambled and kicked their mother belly so much that doctors had no choice but to grip him out with a pincer. He came out 6 minutes earlier and became the older brother, but paid the price: two marks of pincers on the forehead.

Except for that, the brothers have similar looks, figures, voices, interests, and even aging specks.

Similar life movements.

The twin brothers have not only the same appearances, but also the same life tracks. Ouyang Ding said, "We are the same life movements with the same musical notes."

The brothers entered the same art school at age 12, went into the same theater after that, got distributed to the same place, worked in the same unit after returning to the city, and finally created the same art school when met with reforms. "We have never been separated for 60 years." said Ouyang Ding.

"However, I used to lag behind." Brother Ouyang Nai said that he used to work in some entertainment establishments to supplement the family expense after returning into the city from the distribution to the grass-roots, while his younger brother kept concentrating on music and went into the Chinese Musicians Association 10 year earlier than him.

In fact, the two brothers also have ups and downs in their life movements. The younger brother said that their father loved music and had them learn erhu together. However, considering erhu needs dulcimer to accompany, he had to transfer to dulcimer in his 20s. There was an incident upon returning to the city and the theater recruited only one erhu player. The older brother became the candidates, but he refused this great opportunity soon, because he wanted his brother to be recruited together.
 
Never having been separated for 60 years.

The brothers have never been separated for 60 years. They have more and more mutual understanding and professional skills. Ouyang Nai said that they when they performed in Thailand in the 1970s, "Our twin ensemble of erhu and dulcimer aroused strong sensation there." Together they founded art school and taught students after that.

They finally got the time of harvest. Numerous graduates from the Central Conservatory of Music sang for the two teachers in the birthday party. There were piano boxes behind lots of guests for the dinner and lots of instruments like cello violin and so on the stage. The birthday party was like a concert. Ouyang Nai said that they have trained countless disciples for decades.
