Oudin Twins Have No Plans to Replace Venus and Serena

I think Katherine will be a great college player," said Leslie. "Hopefully Mel will be able to attend some of her college matches, which will be fun I think."

"I've always wanted to be a pro tennis player and she's always wanted to be an obstetrician since we were little," said Melanie after her first-round U.S. Open victory. "She went one way and I went the other way, and we both support each other."

That support, according to their mother, has helped Katherine, the social one, do well in school, and enabled Melanie, the serious sister, to jump to 70th in the women's rankings.

"I think it's actually good for us that we don't have to compete with each other and we can just be happy," said Melanie.

Katherine, who will be watching her sister on TV this weekend, agreed.

"We're not an intense family at all," she said. "We're just really excited and happy for her doing well."
