The boys were mainly orphans or from poor families, he added.

Nazri said the home's monthly operational costs amounted to RM15,000 and it relied on public donations.

Besides the hostel, there is a surau, a multi-purpose hall, an office and a warden's house.

"We bought an adjacent 0.8ha plot and are raising funds to build more facilities.

"We want to build a bigger and better hostel for boys, a hostel for girls and a dining hall to accommodate 100 children," said Nazri.

Mohd Zulfikri Sollehuddin, 14, who has been at the home since 2004, said he enjoyed going to different places and meeting people at buka puasa events.
