Surrogate Battle: Local Couple Loses Twins to Birth Mother

Amy and Scott Kehoe say their twins wouldn't be here today if it weren't for them. Tonight, they're speaking out for the first time about how they lost custody of them to the birth mother and the ordeal they've gone through.

 
JENISON - A couple from West Michigan is getting national attention. They wanted to have a child but weren't able to conceive. So they turned to a surrogate. The woman gave birth to twins, only to take them away from the couple a month later.

It's a very unique situation revolving around two sets of parents who aren't genetically linked to the babies.

The Kehoe family from Jenison says they feel like their children have been legally kidnapped. But they don't have the legal rights to fight back.

Five month old twins Ethan and Bridget are the kids Amy and Scott Kehoe waited eight only years for.

"It was a love i've never had for anybody before," said Amy.
