A twin gets cerebral palsy

Five times of premature rate for twin pregnancy

According to expert, the rate of premature for twin pregnancy is five times higher than single delivery, and the abortion rate 10% higher. Many syndromes like mental retardation or deformity are likely to happen. 

Multiple fetuses competing for blood in the belly, some may die of dysplasia caused by too much or too little blood. The dead fetus melts easily, and the toxic element may cause diffusing vascular blood coagulation if it gets into the blood. This is an illness graver than septicemia with a death toll of 70-80%. What's more, there are syndromes typical of multiple births like hydramnios, high blood pressure, placental abruption, postpartum hemorrhage and so on.
